In the New Jersey and Metro-New York area alone there are over 50 fertility centers to seek care from. The reality is, not ALL centers are alike. The task of choosing a fertility center that is right for you and your partner can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t need to be. FOX News – Health Talk with Dr. Manny recently invited our very own Dr. Richard Scott back to the studio to discuss some important questions to consider when searching for a fertility center.

- Can the center diagnose your infertility needs and complete your treatment cycle quickly?
- Diagnostic workup should be completed in 30 days or less
- Time to successful treatment should average less than five months for most patients
- Does the center provide care based on your clinical, personal, and professional needs?
- Early morning monitoring appointments with physicians
- Open for comprehensive care seven days a week
- Evening and weekend new patient visits
- Does the center provide care to patients with complex problems?
- Has the center consistently reported IVF delivery rates at or above the national average?
- Current IVF success data is posted on publicly accessible databases such as the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (www.sart.org) and the Center for Disease Control (www.cdc.gov)
- Published delivery rates in your age group should be at or above the national average
- Does the center promote “gimmicks” or practice evidence based, state of the art medicine?
- Routinely performs genetic screening of embryos using validated technologies
- Embryo culture to blastocycst stage available to most if not all patients
- Frequently performs single embryo transfers while maintaining above average delivery rates
- Accounts for endometrial synchronzation during time of embryo transfer
- Does the center provide care that is safe?
- Limit the number of embryos transferred to one or two in all patients at all times
- Triplet rage should be near zero
- Does the center routinely perform Trophectoderm embryo biopsy when genetic screening is indicated?
- How do treatment fees and out of pocket costs compare from center to center?
- Costs and insurance access should not vary dramatically from center to center
- Are their costs in line with their success rates? Are their fees excessive or discounted too heavily?
- Are the clinicians at the center considered scientific thought leaders by their peers?
- Consistently publishing their research and results in peer-reviewed scientific journals?
- Participate as faculty at national and international conferences and review courses
